The origins of zen are elusive, but are not completely beyond explanation. In the sixth century, Bodhidharma brought the teachings of Zen to China. Bodhidharma introduced Zen to Japan one hundred years later. Zen learned to live without the need for written words through his travels. The Flower Sermon was preached by the Buddha in the earliest Zen texts. This Dharma talk was the basis of Zen practice. It is believed that the Buddha taught these teachings in his 14th-century audience. Zen advocates the integration and of the mind and body to get insight into the nature, and even the origins of things. This is not traditional Buddhism.

What does the word "vitamin" mean?

Vitamins are organic compounds naturally found in food. Vitamins allow us to absorb nutrients from food. Vitamins cannot be made by the body; they must be taken from food.

There are two types if vitamins: water soluble, and fat soluble. Water-soluble vitamins dissolve easily when they are dissolved in water. These include vitamin C (thiamine), Vitamin B1 (riboflavin), Vitamin B2 (riboflavin), Vitamin B3 (niacin), Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine), Vitamin C, B1 (thiamine), Vitamin B2 (riboflavin), Vitamin B3 (niacin), and Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine). Vitamins are classified according to their biological activity. There are eight main groups of vitamins.

For adults over 19 years, the RDA is 400 mg per day for vitamin A. Pregnant mothers need 600 micrograms per days because it is vital for the development and growth of their baby. Children ages 1-8 require 900 micrograms per day. Babies under one-year old require 700 mg per day. Between 9 and 12 years of age, however, this drops to 500 mg per day.

Children aged 1-18 years need 800 micrograms daily, while children overweight require 1000 micrograms per days. Children who are severely obese or underweight will need 1200 micrograms each day.

2200 mg of vitamin A per day is required for children aged 4-8 who have been diagnosed by anemia.

Adults over 50 years of age need 2000 micrograms per day for general health. Mothers who are pregnant, nursing, or have a high nutrient need will require 3000 micrograms a day.

1500 micrograms are required daily by adults over 70 because they lose approximately 10% of their muscle each decade.

Women who are pregnant or lactating need more than the RDA. Pregnant and breastfeeding women require 4000 micrograms each day during pregnancy and 2500 Micrograms each day after delivery. Breastfeeding moms need 5000 micrograms each day when breastmilk production occurs.
